I wrote these for two drabble challengs on the SFTCOL(AR)S message board. Both are set more or less S3, though it's not too important for the second one.
Prompt: Heart
Rating: PG
Notes: Thanks to Rachelly for looking this over for me :)
Title: Silver Bullet to the Heart
There's something wrong with Sam's heart.
It beats just fine, as healthy, as young as ever. But it feels off, feels funny, like it shouldn't beat like that, like it shouldn't beat at all.
He wishes that it wouldn't. Instead it's Dean's heart that beats on a time table, like a time bomb that Sam doesn't know how to stop.
Yet still his keeps beating, loud and sure and wrong, and Sam makes sure his gun is always loaded, because his father always said that a silver bullet to the heart killed most things. He hopes his dad was right.
Prompt: Green
Rating: PG, general S3 spoilers
Title: Green Eggs and Responsibility
It's not funny.
It should be. Sam stooped over the toilet, too much brother in too little space, groaning so loud that the neighbors hear. At first, Dean does laugh, because Sam eats so much salad that of course he's green around the edges.
But the hours linger and Sam grows weary, his head resting on porcelain. His undershirt is damp, the place reeks, but all Dean sees is Sam's wet wide-eyes, his pain-stricken face, and this is Dean's responsibility in the end.
Dean swallows, feeling green himself, because that's never something that's been funny to him.

Date: 2008-03-22 01:18 am (UTC)Silver Bullet to the Heart hits the right emotional notes for me and Green Eggs and Responsibility is funny, despite the first sentence. And it softens Dean, which is always worthwhile.
Thanks for the pick me up!
