A/N: Another in my apparent drabble series. At least I plotted so there is an end in sight for all this. But with 100 word snippets, it’ll take me a while to get there!
Summary: Faster, stronger, higher – still not enough.

“You impress me, Stephen,” Helen said. “You were never the brightest but so dedicated. To think, you’ve blossomed. I underestimated how my disappearance would motivate you.”
Stephen stood, taut. “It’s not like that.”
“Still not the smartest, sadly.” Helen shrugged, moving forward. “Never matter.”
Stephen rebelled, lashing out desperately. He lunged, knocking into her before his strength vanished and his legs folded, the world tilting.
“Faster, stronger, higher – still not enough,” she cooed above him, holding up the syringe he hadn’t seen. She smiled coldly as the world went horribly dim while the drugs took effect. “We’ll work on that.”
