Title: True Devotion
Disclaimer: I do not own Primeval.
A/N: For
primeval100 and the prompt devotion. Spoilers through 2.07. Helen/Stephen, sort of Stephen/Cutter, depending on how you read it.
Summary: Stephen learns what true devotion is all about.
-o-
In the aftermath, Stephen was almost broken with exhaustion. He buried his head into Helen’s heaving chest, her hands clenched in his hair. “I’d do anything for you,” he groaned.
“Oh, Stephen,” she purred, “such devotion.”
Years later, when Helen comes back, she calls on Stephen’s promise, and he struggles to fight it. She’s still Helen to him, the first woman who made him feel important, the first person he loved.
But things have changed – he’s changed – and Stephen has one last chance. So he closes the door and holds Cutter’s gaze and learns what true devotion is all about.

Here's rule one: Write happier/more hopeful endings *G*. Or write an angsty drabble then a happy sequel/counterpoint.
