Title: Clues
Disclaimer: I certainly don’t own Primeval.
A/N: Written for
primeval100, prompt 249 hidden in plain sight.
Warnings/Spoilers: References to S2 through 2.07. And I apologize, it’s not denial friendly. I apparently will never get over the way that episode went down.
Summary: Nick says they’re okay, but truly, he resents Stephen more with each passing day.
-o-
Nick’s made simple pretense, but the truth is hidden in plain sight. He doesn’t go the extra mile to back Stephen up; he doesn’t share his latest ideas or a ride to work. He barely even looks at the man if he can help it. Nick says they’re okay, but truly, he resents Stephen more with each passing day.
At the end, when Stephen’s alone and surrounded by predators, Stephen doesn’t waver, doesn’t flinch; he doesn’t even look away. And suddenly Nick sees the clues he’s missed all along – apology, regret, pain, and more – to the truth that matters more.

One word - SOB!
Date: 2012-02-24 07:31 pm (UTC)This just kills:
