For some reason, this year I wanted to really take stock of what I’d been up to fandom wise. So, for those who may care, the overview of my efforts this year are under the cut.

This year was a rather random year. I started out on a real H50 kick, though I probably wrote the bulk of my fic for that fandom in late 2010. And then, something happened!

I got pregnant!

This may not seem overly relevant to writing but when you spend three months feeling sick and wanting to sleep all the time, it has a definite impact. In essence, I stopped writing from February to April, which was consequently the duration of my first trimester.

And then, as the nausea finally abated, something else happened! I watched CHAOS. For the record, this was not my fault. I wouldn’t have even heard of it since CBS didn’t really advertise it but [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 mentioned it so I checked it out.

And then! More amazing things happened! I fell in love with James Murray. And thus started the James Murray obsession that drove the rest of my year, mostly in the way of CHAOS and Primeval. (Though I also made a point to see just about everything James Murray has been in which included me buying a cheap DVD player and reprogramming it to read DVDs from all zones. This qualifies as a major obsession, perhaps my most extreme yet. It even tops buying Jared Padalecki’s movie with the Olsen twins. Which, yes, I still own.)

My word count was helped by some really awesome writing friendships. First, [livejournal.com profile] eviinsanemonkey provided a string of awesome prompts that got me writing short fics. Then, [livejournal.com profile] sophie_deangirl fed my h/c muse like no other and I managed to produce some of the most gratuitous whump fics ever. And then there is [livejournal.com profile] moogsthewriter who shares my brain and somehow talks me into writing anything and everything.

(Also, for those who may be wondering – all two people reading this – the pregnancy did eventually end and I had a baby girl in October, which resulted in another small hiatus. But my baby is cute so that’s pretty okay overall.)

I’m not sure what 2012 holds, but this is the overview by the numbers:

Total words: 650,000

Total fics: 113, give or take a drabble

Total fandoms: 11 (Hawaii Five-0, CHAOS, Primeval, Covert Affairs, Gilmore Girls, Chimera/Rob Thurman, Oceans 11, Merlin, Fairly Legal, Supernatural, Psych)

Longest fic: Into the Bolivian Sunset , just under 100k

Shortest fic (non-drabble): Quintessence of Dust , 273

Most popular: The Eleventh Hour had the most reviews, but also a large number of chapters. The Break-Even Point had a high percentage of reviews and favorites. Sail Away was my most reviewed one-shot.

Personal Favorite: Happiness is a Warm Puppy. Because I liked Billy alone in the cold with a puppy. Also maybe Famous Last Words because I got to kill Billy in a horrible way and I just liked the concept of the aftermath for Rick.

Most under-appreciated (in my opinion): Into the Bolivian Sunset . This is mostly because there’s no good place to post fic for this book (Chimera by Rob Thurman) so the audience is inherently small. But I invested a lot into this fic and I was really happy with it for many reasons and I always sort of wanted it to be loved. In general, I am also sad that there are so few people who read CHAOS fic overall but I know that’s to be expected given that the show was so short lived.

Just for fun, an overview of my icon making in 2011:

Total icons: 496

Total fandoms: 10 (CHAOS, Primeval, H50, Fairly Legal, Chuck, Oceans 11, Covert Affairs, Star Trek Reboot, Misc. James Murray)

Favorite icons:

It’s also somewhat worth noting that these stats take into accounted posted fic. Not everything that I posted was written in 2011. And not everything I wrote in 2011 has been posted yet. I actually have a frightening queue of unpublished fics. Posting those is part of my goal in 2012.
