A/N: The next in my Kept drabble verse.

Summary: Stephen is tired of games.

Stephen fought for his self control. “What do you mean?”

Helen’s postured eased, as if suddenly comfortable again. “I mean, you can’t trust them.”

That wasn’t enough. Not this time. “But how did they create it? Why?”

Helen shrugged. “I don’t know.”

Stephen’s shook his head. “You don’t know or you won’t tell me?”

“It’s complicated--”

“No, it’s not,” Stephen said flatly.

Helen protested. “You--”

Stephen sighed, frustration peaking. “Damn it, I’m tired of games.”

This time, Helen’s eyes flashed. “I know you’re frustrated. Frankly, so am I,” she said. “But remember, these games are the only reason you’re alive.”
