Title: Five Heroes that Fell (And One that Rose Again)

Disclaimer: Not mine.

A/N: Another random old one, written S5 around Fallen Idols, I believe. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns for the beta.

Summary: Even heroes have their breaking points, and whether they fall off the pedestals or you break them on your own, fallen heroes are much the same in the end.

Sam does everything right. )

Title:  End Like This

Disclaimer:  Not mine.

A/N:  I wrote this some time ago as sort of a post S5 tag, I guess.  I never liked it much, though, and I’m still not sure how I feel about it, but since it’s still on my computer in a completed form, I’ll post it anyway.  It hasn’t been beta’ed, but I gave it a read through myself.  Mistakes are my own, obviously.

Summary:  It isn’t supposed to end like this.  It does anyway.

Title:  Someone to Believe

Disclaimer:  Not mine.

A/N:  My entry for “Point of No Return” on the summer_sam_love Celebration.  A quick beta by [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , who took time from her busy and stressful weekend for me :)

Summary:  Sam’s sitting outside the panic room and he’s trying to find a way to keep Dean from saying yes.

Sam knows that Dean is going to say yes. )

Title:  Sam, Uninhibited

Disclaimer: Not mine.

A/N: This is for the episode Sam, Interrupted on the [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love  Celebration.  Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns  for the beta help and for her general love of drugged up Sam.  After writing this, I have to admit, I’m sort of envious of Sam and his drugs :)  Although I have no idea if my drugged up Sam sounds drugged or just OOC.

Summary:  The drugs are nice.  Missing scene for S,I.

Has Sam mentioned the drugs? )

Title:  Flights of Grace and Future Falls

Rating:  PG-13

A/N:  This is a woefully meager offering for [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  on her birthday.  She deserves more, no doubt, but I hope this does something to commemorate the awesomeness of all she is to all who know her.  It’s hard to believe that it’s been over five years since I first met her--especially when it seems like I’ve known her all my life.

A/N 2:  Quick beta provided by [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns .  Any mistakes are my own sloppiness.  The total lack of original plot is my own fault as well.  Accompanying artwork carries lyrics from “Oh My God” by Jars of Clay, which has been an inspirational backdrop for a lot of my post S5 stuff so far.

Summary:  This story doesn’t have a happy ending.

It has a good ending, though. )

The Pain is Worth the Thunder

A/N: It took some time, but I finally got myself to sit down and really try to get into Sam's head regarding the finale. It's interesting to me that while I never totally bought into how the show presented Sam's anger issues, the more I explored them, the more telling they seemed to be in the evolution of how Sam came to where he was in the finale. He is a character who has endured much, failed and lost, and only in submission did he really overcome.

A/N: This one is for [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , who took the time to beta this fic for me and continues to be a friend I can always count on :) Title borrowed from the song "Oh My God" by Jars of Clay. Posting motivation thanks to the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 .

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: Sam spends two years being scared. Then one day, Sam gets angry.

Sam learns the truth when he is eight. )

Title: These Days Mercy Cuts So Deep

A/N: I gave up hope on this show awhile ago, especially in terms of its finales. I am so happy to say that Kripke and company (finally) proved me wrong. This ep wasn't totally perfect in every regard, but I thought it was a beautiful ep that brought the show back to what I've always loved most about it: family. The epic love story of Sam and Dean that really does overcome all odds and wins the day. And it's strange to me that though Sam's hero moment was the thing I've been desperate to see for five years now, it was actually Dean who I fell in love with all over again in this ep. His decision to go to Stull, to be there for Sam even when it looked hopeless--that's Dean. And my heart so breaks for him now. (And my heart also breaks for Sam, but on a whole different level. And in a whole different fic, if I ever manage to gather my emotions enough for that.)

A/N 2: Title taken from the song "Oh My God" by Jars of Clay. Betas by [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 , [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , and then [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  again.

Rating:  PG-13

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: Dean still keeps his promise. Post 5.22.

Sometimes I cannot forgive )

Title: One Man's Burden, Another Man's Blessing

Disclaimer: Not mine.

A/N: This is a tag to 5.16. I will just preface this by saying that Dean kind of annoyed me. A lot. So if you're of the woe is Dean mentality, you may not want to read this. Just saying.  I simply think Dean has a lot to learn.

A/N 2: Beta'ed by [livejournal.com profile] mikiya2200  and [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns . Prompt was given by sunkisstd on the limp!Sam board. Any remaining mistakes are mine.

ETA Warning:  I suppose I should warn of character death.

Summary: Dean was right. About so much. About saying no, about holding out. About Team Free Will. But he's also been wrong.

In the end, Dean doesn't say yes. )

Title: Once There was a Thing Called Spring

Author: [livejournal.com profile] faye_dartmouth

Rating: PG-13

Warnings: spoilers up through MBV

Disclaimer: Not mine

Word Count: 2000-ish

A/N: I wrote this little ditty for the Sam, Monthly contests over at the [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love  community on LJ. The prompt was anything related to Sam and spring, so why this came out, I'm not entirely sure, but I still think (hope!) it qualifies :) Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns  for the beta and [livejournal.com profile] dontknowmyname  for organizing the event.  The contest ends soon and voting is soon to follow, so be sure to check it out!

Summary: Dean curses again. At the weather, at the flowers, at the baby bunnies. At Sam and spring and Dean's horrible bad luck.

Spring. Time of renewal, rebirth. When the world breaks out of its long winter thaw and slowly but surely bursts forth into life once again. )

Title: The Worst Part of These Winters

A/N: This was written for a prompt on the Sam h/c comment fic meme over at [livejournal.com profile] ohsam . I wrote this quickly and it was beta'ed quickly by [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , so any mistakes are mine :) And the ending is vague and might be interpreted sort of dark, but doesn't have to be. I leave it to your imagination but will warn you nonetheless. Title borrowed from a the song "Bed of Lies" by Matchbox20.

Warning: Torture. And, um, more torture. Set in S5 with references up through MBV.

Prompt: (from [livejournal.com profile] ancastar ): Some baddie is beating the crap out of our boy. The beating could be physical (fists and feet) or more magic related (along the lines of what happened to Dean in the season one finale). Dean is being forced to watch, but cannot intervene. All Sam has to do to get the whumping to stop is to tell the baddie to go pick on Dean instead. But he won't. No matter how much Dean begs him to.

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: Sam's always been the selfish one.

Don't you know I feel the darkness closing in )

Title: Choices Remain

A/N: I’m sort of amused that an episode finally moved me to write. I don’t expect it to be a common occurrence, but I’ll follow it when it hits. This short little piece is a tag to TSRTS. Thanks to Deej for a super speedy beta. Title taken from the Switchfoot song "Living is Simple," for those who may be curious.

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: One split second decision, giving himself up--he can save them this way, and it’s a redemption so powerful that he wants to cry and laugh as he bleeds out on the floor.

It's an easy decision to make. )

Title: The Last Line

Summary: Sam says yes in a rundown street in Detroit. Spoilers for 5.04.

A/N: There were good things and not so good things about this ep for me, and one of the nagging question I kept having was: Why did Sam say yes? So I decided to answer my own question. Quick beta was provided by [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 . Also, I didn’t go back and check the timeline or things so I can’t remember for sure if the show said what year Sam gave in at the showdown in Detroit. So I just guessed. If I’m wrong, I can tweak it later but it’s not super important to the overall fic.

Disclaimer: Nope. Not mine.

The buildings around him are smoking, with all the windows blasted out. )

Title: On the Outside

Summary: He doesn’t know the name of the motel. He doesn’t know what city he’s in. He just knows the night is edging toward its climax and his only goal is to hold on until morning. Tag to 5.02.

A/N: This was about the most heartbreaking ep ever. At first I didn’t think I had a tag in mind, but Brenna asked and it IS her birthday, so this little vignette is for her. And for Sam. Who desperately needs something right now, and I wish there was something more hopeful I could write for him. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 for the fast beta.

Disclaimer: Not mine. If they were, I would take Sam away and take care of him until he believed in himself again.

Sam is in a motel bed. )
