Title: Five Heroes that Fell (And One that Rose Again)

Disclaimer: Not mine.

A/N: Another random old one, written S5 around Fallen Idols, I believe. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns for the beta.

Summary: Even heroes have their breaking points, and whether they fall off the pedestals or you break them on your own, fallen heroes are much the same in the end.

Sam does everything right. )

Title:  Heat of the Moment
Author: [livejournal.com profile] faye_dartmouth
Rating: PG
Warnings: Set post Mystery Spot
Disclaimer:  Not mine.
Recipient:  [livejournal.com profile] swellison
Word Count: 2900
Author’s Note: It’s been a long time since I’ve written Sam and Dean so I apologize that this is so short and a little hard up on plot.  Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns  for the beta.  Written for [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love .
Prompt: Included at the end of the fic.
Summary: It’s the heat of the moment again. It’s going to happen again.  Dean’s going to die.  Sam’s going to do everything he can and it’s not going to be enough.  It’s going to be like this forever.

It's a dream he can't wake up from. )

Title:  The One Who's Leaving

Disclaimer:  Not mine.

A/N:  This is maybe my oldest unposted fic.  I wrote it as a missing scene/introspection to "Scarecrow" and just never did anything with it.  geminigrl11 beta'ed it years ago and yet here it is.  It's not my favorite but in the pursuit of cleaning up all the fic on my computer, it's going up :)  Title borrowed from Matchbox20's "Leave."

Summary:  Dean understands that no matter who left who, he’s alone again, and he’s not sure what to do.

"I'm taking off," Dean says. )

Title:  The Last Laugh

Disclaimer:  Not mine

A/N:  Again, written a long while ago and is being posted thanks to the mad beta’ing skills of [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns .  Also just want to take a second to pimp the latest edition of [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love .  Check it out and spread the word for this summer's celebration.

Summary:  Sam looks at his hands, and shifts in his seat.  They don’t celebrate their hunts anymore.  They don’t even stop to crack open a beer and kick back for the night.  They just load their gear, adjust the mirrors and get the hell out of dodge. (Tag to Ghostfacers)

Driving away, Sam almost feels guilty. )

Title:  Crazy

Disclaimer:  Not mine

A/N:  I wrote this a long time ago and didn’t know much what to do with it.  So it sat on my computer until [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns  beta’ed it for me :)

Warnings:  Takes place during MATEOTB.

Summary:   Chuck can’t decide how this story ends.  Dean may be the hero.  Sam may end up the villain.  But this is more than a story.  This is life, and these are people, and no matter how it turns out, Chuck knows that Dean may be the guy Chuck wants to be, but Sam’s the one who needs a friend, now more than ever.

It's been a crazy sort of week. )

Title:  The Flash of Light on a Burial Shroud

A/N:  This is a missing/expanded scene toward the end of ITGPSW.  This has been completed as part of the awesome Summer of Sam Love 2010 Celebration.  Beta provided by the inestimable [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  with inspiration from the unparalleled [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns .  The title is borrowed from the Third Eye Blind song “Jumper,” which also inspired the companion art for this fic/episode.

Disclaimer:  Not mine.

Summary:  Sometimes there is no right and wrong, there’s just wrong and worse, and Sam has to pick between the lesser of two evils.

Sam tries. )
faye_dartmouth: (not a good day)
Title:  The Definition of Insanity

Disclaimer:  Not mine.

A/N:  Written for the episode “Mystery Spot” for [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love .  This is still a quintessential Sam ep, even more so after all these years.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  for the beta, especially since my tenses and timing were still a little rough when she looked it over :)

Summary:  Most people say insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results.

Sam knows the definition of insanity. )

Title: A World That’s Lost Its Meaning

Disclaimer: Not mine

Rating: PG-13

A/N: Written for the ep WIAWSN for the [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love  2010 Celebration.  Beta’ed with love by an ever-reliable [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns .

Summary:  Sam knows what it’s like to have everything you want, to hold it so close, to touch it, feel it, have it.  He knows what it’s like to cherish it at a price, to trade the truth for safety--for the illusion of safety.

They ride in silence, rain thrumming on the Impala's roof, running down her windows with crazy patterns. )

Title: My Own Funeral

A/N: My submission for the episode "Skin" in the 2010 [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love  Celebration. With love to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , who motivated this fic, and [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 , who is still my beta after all these (wonderful!) years.

Disclaimer: So not mine.

Summary: There had been two Deans. Sam had been so certain the one who had died was the shifter. Dean had been so Dean, but this was not his brother.

Sam had had enough of lessons. )

The Pain is Worth the Thunder

A/N: It took some time, but I finally got myself to sit down and really try to get into Sam's head regarding the finale. It's interesting to me that while I never totally bought into how the show presented Sam's anger issues, the more I explored them, the more telling they seemed to be in the evolution of how Sam came to where he was in the finale. He is a character who has endured much, failed and lost, and only in submission did he really overcome.

A/N: This one is for [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , who took the time to beta this fic for me and continues to be a friend I can always count on :) Title borrowed from the song "Oh My God" by Jars of Clay. Posting motivation thanks to the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 .

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: Sam spends two years being scared. Then one day, Sam gets angry.

Sam learns the truth when he is eight. )

Title: These Days Mercy Cuts So Deep

A/N: I gave up hope on this show awhile ago, especially in terms of its finales. I am so happy to say that Kripke and company (finally) proved me wrong. This ep wasn't totally perfect in every regard, but I thought it was a beautiful ep that brought the show back to what I've always loved most about it: family. The epic love story of Sam and Dean that really does overcome all odds and wins the day. And it's strange to me that though Sam's hero moment was the thing I've been desperate to see for five years now, it was actually Dean who I fell in love with all over again in this ep. His decision to go to Stull, to be there for Sam even when it looked hopeless--that's Dean. And my heart so breaks for him now. (And my heart also breaks for Sam, but on a whole different level. And in a whole different fic, if I ever manage to gather my emotions enough for that.)

A/N 2: Title taken from the song "Oh My God" by Jars of Clay. Betas by [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 , [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , and then [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  again.

Rating:  PG-13

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: Dean still keeps his promise. Post 5.22.

Title: One Man's Burden, Another Man's Blessing

Disclaimer: Not mine.

A/N: This is a tag to 5.16. I will just preface this by saying that Dean kind of annoyed me. A lot. So if you're of the woe is Dean mentality, you may not want to read this. Just saying.  I simply think Dean has a lot to learn.

A/N 2: Beta'ed by [livejournal.com profile] mikiya2200  and [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns . Prompt was given by sunkisstd on the limp!Sam board. Any remaining mistakes are mine.

ETA Warning:  I suppose I should warn of character death.

Summary: Dean was right. About so much. About saying no, about holding out. About Team Free Will. But he's also been wrong.

In the end, Dean doesn't say yes. )

Title: Choices Remain

A/N: I’m sort of amused that an episode finally moved me to write. I don’t expect it to be a common occurrence, but I’ll follow it when it hits. This short little piece is a tag to TSRTS. Thanks to Deej for a super speedy beta. Title taken from the Switchfoot song "Living is Simple," for those who may be curious.

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: One split second decision, giving himself up--he can save them this way, and it’s a redemption so powerful that he wants to cry and laugh as he bleeds out on the floor.

It's an easy decision to make. )

Title:  The Light That's Burning Up Inside

Summary:  Dean looks at the light and looks at Sam and wants to forget but can only remember.  Post 4.22

A/N:  I started a very angry fic post finale but as my emotions mellowed, I came up with this instead.  Given a beta by [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11 , who helped the mellowness, and a once over by [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , who is strikingly sane in contrast to me.  Also, Sam is awesome, isn't he?  We've got a fic exchange going on that's in the sign up phase for anyone who happens to agree.  You can check it out at [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love

Disclaimer: Not mine.  Though, if they were, I promise Sam would get a lot more hugs.

Title:  Five Lies Sam told Dean (or Sam Winchester Apologetics)

Summary:  Maybe all those truths are forgivable, maybe not, but he still leads off with a lie, which might condemn him more than anything else.

A/N:  Last night was a difficult ep, so this is how I’m dealing with it.  I’m sure people will disagree but I’m okay with that.  This was written fast and beta’ed fast, so if there’s still mistakes, I apologize.  But I wanted to get this up before I lost my nerve (or turned off this show altogether--whichever came first).  [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  gave this a beta, but I played with it afterward, so I take full responsibility.  LJ doesn't like me so I don't think my italics are in the fic, but hopefully it'll still make sense.  I tried to catch a few.

Title: Seeing Stars

Summary: Dean asks if he believes in angels and God and Lucifer, and Sam has to pause, because his head hurts, his conscience aches, and all he sees are stars.

A/N: I’m not sure I totally like this fic or that it totally works but Sam’s POV just needs to be written so I’m doing what I have to do until (hopefully) the show (maybe) does it for us (finally). Yeah, I may still be a little bitter :) Thanks and love to geminigrl11 and sendintheclowns for their help both in beta’ing and listening to me rant. And I have ranted a lot.

Disclaimer: Not mine.

Title:  Nothing is With Thee

Summary:  Because a year ago Sam made a promise, a desperate, foolish, damn Winchester promise, and he's not sure he's ready to let that go just yet.

A/N:  It's hard to think that it's been since June since I wrote anything about Sam and Dean.  I've just been rather busy and this show and fandom have made me rather bitter.  And then, when I do, it's this?  Needless to say this isn't my most exciting fic ever but it's based on frustrations I've had with the new season.  Therefore, expect spoilers up through 4.1.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  who beta'ed this for me and to sendintheclowns who also offered some sound advice to get this little thing finished.

Disclaimer:  I really would never want them.

Nothing is With Thee )

Title: Prayers to Broken Stone

Summary: Blind faith could take many forms. Desperation did that to a man. It didn't take a Stanford education to figure that one out, but it certainly had taken Dean long enough. Tag to Long Distance Caller.

A/N: Part of me thinks I'm going to catch crap for this tag because I'm pretty sure my Sam girl colors are showing pretty clearly here. But if you all don't realize that I'm biased by now, then you must not be reading very carefully :) This ep didn't scream out for a limpness tag, yet I was drawn to write one anyone, partly because the ending drove me nuts. Obvious spoilers for Long Distance Caller and vague ones for every ep until this point.

A/N 2: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sendintheklowns , Rachelly, and [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  for their feedback on this one. I'm a messy writer, so it feels good knowing I have people watching my back to make sure I don't make (too much) of an idiot of myself.

Disclaimer: These get so redundant! I don't own them. At all. Trust me.

Prayers to Broken Stone )

Title: Whiskey and Sympathy

Summary: It's two in the afternoon and Sam needs a drink.

A/N: A missing scene for DALDOM. Just because I was angry and because Sam's actions so often make no sense so we're left to figure out his reasons for him. Beta'ed by [livejournal.com profile] geminigrl11  and Rachelly.

Disclaimer: Not mine. Sometimes I wouldn't even want to claim them.
