Title: The Worst Day (The Best Day)

Disclaimer: I do not own Primeval.

A/N: The prompt was the worst day. Even though my instincts were to write about pain and death and unending despair, I figured [livejournal.com profile] kristen_mara would never forgive me, so I wrote this instead. Also much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lena7142 for her editing awesomeness.

Spoilers: 2.07, of course. But AU!

Summary: To Cutter, it would always be the worst day ever.

To Cutter, it would always be the worst day ever. Seeing Stephen ripped apart, skin broken and blood spilled, almost eviscerated. He’d cradled Stephen’s broken body, feeling his stuttering heartbeat, promising himself that if Stephen lived, he’d learn to forgive. He’d give real second chances.

To Stephen, that day was different. Yes, there was pain and horror. There were lingering nightmares and a complicated recovery. He still burned with shame and humiliation, and he bore scars that would never go away. But it was also the day he got a second chance. To Stephen, that would always be the best.

*kristen_mara is very pleased with your offering* And it feels great to save Stephen AND Nick, doesn't it?

I love the contrast and the fix-it, and there's plenty of angst and meep in there too! The bunker room was a huge wake up call

Haha. You'd better be pleased! I wrote it for you! And it does feel good to keep them alive even if it isn't always my muses first inclination.

Thanks :)
